If the true owner of the vehicle did not have knowledge that the vehicle was being used to commit a felony drug charge, the vehicle will probably be returned. If the vehicle is financed and not valued more than what is owed, the government will usually return the vehicle.

"In regards to the car owner, you would not have any legal obligation to that individual. They made the decision to loan you the vehicle," says Michael Rehm with The Law Office of Michael Rehm.
