He was an interior decorator and aspiring artist, but he became best known for his role in creating the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival in 1969 and for his books and a 2009 movie about the experience. It was also a rumor that women gave birth at the festival, but none were recorded at the site itself. Sadly eight women had miscarriages though at the festival. When Woodstock '69 was all over, the New York State Department of Health recorded 5,162 medical cases over the near-four-day event, 800 of which were drug-related.
